Abstract:
Religion has the power to foster peace, define right vs wrong, to bring people together, shaping a community, giving it a Purpose - an Identity. Contradicting, it also can divide, initiate conflicts, create differences among varying beliefs leading to lesser interactions - to lack in pluralistic dialogues.
In this pluralistic environment, it can be said religion has a large influence on the behaviour of the society and also on political views. Difference in belief system influences violence - forming rifts between different faiths, leading to conflicts. This phenomenon can be resolved through instilling tolerance through encouraging continuous dialogue with others, building trust and creating a union.
Thus, the thesis proposes Religion as a force, in the undercurrent contemporary conflict which has the power to nullify its effect. Architecturally, bridging the sacredness of the place of worship to the place of dialogue, a building as a symbol of Tolerance, even with the varying beliefs.
